  	Cornelius Troy b.1837 b Tipperary Ireland d April 1916- Buried Kerang- Married (reg 2967 ) Ellen Mary Kelly b.1845 County Clare Ireland )d Sept 1942. Cornelius was a resident of Tipperary and came to Australia with his family aboard the “Lady Elgin “ when young in 1852. He was employed at John Calverts station near Colac and later followed farming pursuits at Beeac. Cornelius and his wife Ellen Mary Kelly later moved to Myall in 1880 the year of the flood and selected land at Murrabit. He travelled to the Kerang area with their two children- Ellen Mary born 1877 and John Joseph born in 1879 in a wagon with 3 horses, bringing all their stock with them from a selection they had in Beach Forest. Cornelius took an active part in the advancement of the district and was the First Chairperson of the Benjeroop & Murrabit Irrigation Trust holding position of Commissioner from its inception. He did not have ill health, until he suffered a paralytic seizure 6 months before his death. He had another seizure the day before he died and did not regain consciousness. He and his wife Ellen , travelled to the Kerang area with their two children Ellen Mary(called Nellie at times) born in 1887 and John Joseph born 1879 in a wagon with 3 horses, bringing all their stock with them from a selection they had in Beach Forest. There was some mention that one of them lost a fiancée in WW1.

  	John Troy Born 1833 John Troy married 1833? his wife Mary (nee Maher) and their family of 5 children left Nenagh County Tipperary Ireland and ailed from Plymouth aboard the “Lady Elgin “ on the 17.12.1851 arriving at Hobson’s Ba, Victoria 29.03.1952. The journey took 103 days. The shipping records indicate John’s calling as a butcher and listed to be employed by Michael Eadn, Moonee Ponds from the 31st for a period of 6 months and wage of 140? The shipping records indicates age of children -Maria-(Mary) 16 yo - Married Frederick Stanbury and 4 children: -Cornelius 15. - James 14 - Michael 10- Married with 5 children - and Honera 12. John and Mary ages listed as 39 and 36 respectively. An entry from Victoria and it’s Metropolis -Past and Present- Following- The family first went to Mr Charles Beal’s at Gellibrand for 12 months then moved to Mr John Calvert’s near Colac where they stated for almost 4 years. They then rented a house from John Calvert and carried on dairy farming for 3 years until the Land Act came into force and John Troy selected 160 acres which he farmed until his death in 1862. After John's death his wife Mary and children, Michael. Cornelius, James and Anna( (hannora) were beneficiaries. The sons continued to work the farm in company for a time. Michael Troy remained at the homestead and was living there when this volume published. Beeac about 10 miles from Colac was founded about 1860 but before that it had been known as Ondit as the townand was situated near Lake Ondit. The Troy family came to Beeac in 1853. On John's death certificate his father is listed as Cornelius and mother as Mary O'Brien dated 1862.
